ABSTRACT
Introduction: Noise-induced hearing loss is considered an occupational disease, preventable but not curable, affecting workers exposed to high noise levels. As scientific research, technologies, and preventive regulations advance, an alarming increase in hearing loss has been noted.
Objective: To characterize the scientific production of the last 5 years based on noise-induced hearing loss in construction workers.
Method: A search for scientific articles based on the research topic was conducted using search engines such as PubMed and Google Scholar, as well as Law 618 (Occupational Health and Safety), the Statistical Yearbook of the Social Security Institute (INSS), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Documents that met the inclusion criteria were selected for bibliometric analysis.
Results: A total of 300 studies were found. A total of 20 articles were analyzed by selecting the studies most closely related to the study objective. The years with the greatest scientific production were 2024 and 2023, providing statistical and scientific information on the behavior of hearing loss over the past 5 years.
Conclusions: The bibliometric review identified the main trends, patterns, and gaps useful in the scientific field of research on hearing loss in construction workers. These gaps provide solid evidence for the implementation of policies and strategies to prevent this occupational disease.
