Abstract

Introduction: The covid-19 pandemic has generated many concerns given the magnitude of this fact worldwide and the negative impact it has generated at any level of society. In this situation, safety and health at work take on even greater importance.

Objective: Argue the importance of high blood pressure and its relationship with occupational health in the context of the covid-19 pandemic.

Material and method: A documentary analysis of scientific articles in journals indexed in the databases of PubMed, Medline, SciELO, Scopus and Medscape, and in printed books that collected the best evidence on the subject was carried out. In addition, the author's practical experience and reasoned intuition was used.

Results: It has been observed that there is a relationship between patients who present infection by the sars-cov-2 coronavirus and, in turn, as comorbidity arterial hypertension with an unfavorable evolution in the clinical course of the disease. Occupational health and safety management actions should focus on planning adequate preventive measures for susceptible subjects: hypertensive workers, those with cardiovascular risk factors predisposed to developing the disease, and workers diagnosed with hypertension after sars-cov-2 infection, regardless of the level of occupational risk to covid-19.

Conclusions: It is important to insist on the importance of all workers correctly applying biosafety measures in their jobs with the aim of minimizing risk exposures, as well as maintaining adequate work aptitude for the task they perform.
