Mobbing and its effects on worker´s health. A bibliometric review
Keywords:
mobbing, work, stress, occupational health, harassmentAbstract
Introduction: Workplace harassment is understood as any continuous and demonstrable conduct directed toward a worker by an employer, supervisor, or even a coworker. The term mobbing originates from the English verb to mob, which means to attack collectively or to harass an individual, exerting extreme psychological violence in the workplace. Within the framework of psychosocial risks at work, workplace harassment or mobbing is considered one of the emerging psychosocial risks. As an emerging psychosocial risk, it often remains unrecognized within organizations.
Objective: To conduct a bibliometric review of scientific publications on mobbing and its consequences on workers' productivity and physical health.
Methods: The PRISMA methodology was implemented to analyze scientific production on workplace mobbing. Searches were conducted in the PubMed database, including articles published between 2020 and 2025. The articles retrieved were managed using R Studio software.
Results: Workplace mobbing is highly prevalent in our environment but receives very little attention, either due to a lack of awareness of its existence or because of omission by the parties involved.
Conclusions: In Nicaragua, the approach to this issue is currently in a stage of strengthening and expansion, representing a valuable opportunity to increase awareness and knowledge across different workplace settings. As more workers become able to recognize these situations, the development of support and assistance strategies is fostered, enabling them to seek appropriate solutions even in high-demand work environments.
